It's back! For the past eight years Cranksgiving Miami has been helping collect non-perishable goods for those in need during the holiday season. Cranksgiving Miami returns for its ninth installment come Saturday, November 18th 2017. Please RSVP on Facebook and share the event with friends and family. All bikes and ages welcome.
What is Cranksgiving Miami?
Cranksgiving Miami is a food drive on wheels that is part scavenger hunt, part bike ride/race, and a whole lot of fun! Ride with others to local grocery stores to purchase specified non-perishable goods. Each participant is asked to spend a minimum of $10 worth of food which will be donated to the Camillus House at the ride’s conclusion in Omni Park.
What is new this year?
Expect some positive changes in 2017. We're starting the ride from Omni Park in downtown Miami, this is the home of the Magic City Bicycle Collective and they will be on hand pumping up tires and doing last minute tune-ups. We have updated the route and added a few new grocery stores to visit, keeping it fresh for everyone. We will also be celebrating The Miami Bike Scene 10 Year Anniversary with an afterparty at Omni Park. Beer will be provided to participants and anyone who donates at least $10 worth of non-perishable goods at the park.

The Boring Details:
Participants will be asked to register at a table and will then receive a map/manifest before the start of the ride/race. The map and/or manifest will have designated grocery store locations marked and a shopping list. Riders are to go to the grocery store checkpoints and buy the non-perishable food items from the checklist. There is no registration fee, the $10 and you need to bring go towards the purchase food items. The first participant to get to the finish after visiting all the checkpoints and purchasing all the items from the list wins! Cranksgiving is lots of fun and for a great cause, it also helps shine a positive light on the local cycling community. Expect to spend about $2 at each grocery store ($10 total), it is required to keep all your receipts.
The ride/race is approximately 10 - 18 miles depending on whether you do the long or short route. Speed will be an obvious factor for some, however, knowing your way around the city and the aisles of a supermarket can be advantageous.
Racing is not required, you can simply participate by riding with a group and visiting the checkpoints at your own pace. We want to make sure everyone is included, all bikes and ages are welcomed. Please keep in mind that the cause is what's most important.
We encourage riders to participate in the ride as part of a team, group, and/or organization. Round up your co-workers, crew, etc and do it collectively. It's more fun with a group and you can leave someone outside the grocery store watching the bikes. Ideally all teams would be wearing their respective group/club t-shirts or cycling jerseys. Represent your group by participating in this positive cycling event, it's more fun with friends!
Once again, it's totally okay to simply ride for the cause, racing is not required. The majority of the riders are just doing it for fun and the worthy cause. We will also have prizes for the most charitable participants. If speed is not your thing you can ride the event as a scavenger hunt instead of a race. Last year over 100 local cyclists participated making it the largest alleycat in South Florida once again, everyone had a great time and the Camillus House was very appreciative about Cranksgiving. This year we're hoping to appeal to more riders. Help us collect more food than all the previous years!
Hope to see you there!
We hung out at this place in evening last week before heading out to our next destination. While we were at venue NYC here we found the service to be quick and attentive. Probably because it was early on a Friday and it was still kind of empty.
